Hangzhou Dianzi University Information Engineering School (hereinafter referred to as the School) is located in Qianshan lake, Lin’an District, city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It is close to the Headquarter of Alibaba Group, and the local Sci-tech hub.
HDUIES was established by Hangzhou Dianzi University in 1999 and recognized by the Ministry of Education as one of the fist independent colleges in China, which is an independent legal entity. It covers an area of over 33 hectare and a floor space of 170,000 square meters. The campus is picturesque, and boast terrific infrastructure and teaching facilities. Currently, HDUIES has 8856 full-time undergraduate students and over 300 faculty members, nearly 90% of whom hold master or doctoral degrees.
HDUIES serves the local community with versatile professionals and creative talents. Great efforts have been made to improve teaching and to prepare students for their career and real life challenges.
Nowadays, HDUIES has 12 departments covering five disciplines: Engineering, Economics, Management, Literature and Art; and offers 27 undergraduate programs in the fields of computer science, mechanical automation, electronic information, economic management, art design and English. Currently, it owns 1 key provincial-level major, 4 emerging provincial-level majors, 1 key provincial-level discipline of university and 2 first-class provincial-level disciplines. It is home to 77 laboratories and 1 provincial-level experimental demonstration center.
Over the past 20 years, nearly 30000 young men and women have graduated from HDUIES. According to the Graduate Vocational Development and Education Quality Survey carried out by Zhejiang Education Evaluation Institute, HDUIES ranked top three among all independent colleges in Zhejiang province in the period of 2015 to 2017. It was recognized as the best private or independent college the best in Zhejiang province, and the third best in the whole country between 2014 and 2018 by China Association of Higher Education.
HDUIES strives to facilitate cooperation and intensify exchanges, and has bonded with local government, many domestic and foreign universities as well as enterprises. In 2019, it initiated two joint educational programs with ITMO University, Russia and University of Electronic Science and Technology at home respectively.
